Now Everyone is getting on the Nuke Bandwagon – And for good reason!

I don’t normally post mini reviews of articles which themselves are barely long enough to be considered all encompassing of a subject themselves; but I see this new Fortune magazine article as right on when it come to the subject of Nuclear Power. Being that I just wrote a blog post on the same subject a couple days ago and I believe so strongly in this case I thought I would continue my elaboration on the subject.

As far as reliability and costs are concerned, few things can compete with Nuclear. It can generate on demand, regardless of weather conditions or time of day. Nuclear plants can operate for months at a time without refueling or maintenance. They produce no greenhouse gases and at a time of sky high oil and gas prices, they are extremely inexpensive to operate on a per MW (megawatt) basis once they are spun up and the bureaucratic expenses are taken out of the equation. Modern nuclear power really is America’s best way out of our current energy crisis. We just need Washington to streamline the process. A few pro-nuclear legislative initiatives, some simpler siting regulations and the energy situation we are painfully experiencing today can be a subject relegated to the past. I just wish Washington would wake up and stop suggesting biofuels and Arctic drilling. They just promote more of the same oil addiction.

Plug-in hybrids or electric only vehicles running on nuclear, wind, solar and hyrdo would be a veritable greenhouse gas and pocketbook utopia!
